Moving to Israel

“While the present situation presents us with many great challenges we should always remember how lucky we are to be able to witness the fulfillment of this great prophecy.”

The above quote comes this week’s must read article and reminds us that while, yes, the challenges of moving to Israel and making Aliyah are indeed formidable, we must always remember that it is also a blessing and miracle that such a possibility even exists. Yehezkel Laing, author of the article published at kumah.org, does an outstanding job of reminding us of this and also mentions other eye opening points that should get the Aliyah juices flowing as we near the Pesach holiday.

There was a fantastic article on the Valley Reporter web site today. It  is a local site serving the Mad River Valley since 1971 (Vermont) and the piece responded to a previous article that had been published on the same site. The original article was the “heartbreaking story of the poor Arab woman who had to wait at the terrible Israeli checkpoint for over two hours” and Yehezkel Laing wrote the retort.

Aside from the fantastic job the article does in responding to the original story I found it fascinating that this local site was even willing to print the response. It was a powerful, inspiring article that calls out the Valley Reporter for becoming yet another vehicle for anti-Israel propaganda. While I was disgusted with the original article and was in awe of the new piece, I must give the Valley Reporter credit for accepting the submission and then publishing it. Perhaps steps like this will encourage other news outlets to listen to the whole story instead of spewing much of the usual anti-Israel rhetoric we’ve become accustomed to hearing. Let’s hope individuals follow Mr. Laing’s initiative and continue to respond to the seemingly endless criticism that Israel so often has to absorb.

As a blog that encourages and (hopefully) contributes to the moving to Israel and Aliyah process, we are always searching the Internet for content that does just that. In searching, today I came across a video that is an aboslute must-see for our audience. The video, written, produced and acted out by Yehezkel Laing, can be viewed here.

These are some tough times that the country is going through and, therefore, this video comes along at the perfect time as it promotes Israel while also being laugh-out-loud funny. If there’s anything better than encouraging Aliyah, it’s encouraging it while making you smile. This is a great piece by Yehezkel and I hope to see lots more content from him in the future (which I will be sure to pass along).
